Southern Vermont is justifiably famous for its alpine skiing. Stratton Mountain (up Route 30) and Mount Snow (Route 100 north of Wilmington) both provide wonderful, challenging slopes with plenty of attractions both slopeside and in the immediate area. If you are looking for something for the little guys, the Memorial Park in Brattleboro has a friendly slope. For a little more excitement, each February ski jumpers from the world over compete at the Harris Hill Ski Jump. It is one of the few Olympic sized, 90 meter jumps in the U.S. and has been newly refurbished in 2008/2009. The competition is held each year around the end of January or beginning of February. |
